We'd like to sincerely thank Suzanne Richardson and Latitude One Anna Bay for their recent fundraiser held in aid of MND NSW.
They hosted a morning tea, raising $3,585 to support families facing MND.
Suzanne sadly lost her husband Keith to MND, in 2019, and chose to organise a fundraiser as tribute to all who have lost the fight to MND. The morning tea was held on March 21, and it would have been Keith’s 75th birthday. Since organising the event, Suzanne has been amazed by how many people in her community have been touched in some way by MND, and said she'd had many people offer to help her with the fundraiser.
“Friday evening before the event I had an army of volunteers to set up the hall for our morning tea on the Saturday. We laid tablecloths and native flowers with some blue tulle, china cups and saucers. That morning, fresh home baked goodies from so many of our community, were displayed for people to come and select what they would like to have," she said.
"The morning tea also included selling MND NSW merchandise and a raffle, tickets sold fast as we had 19 prizes."
Suzanne’s daughter, Kylie Wales, was MC for the event and 'spoke a little about what motor neurone disease is and how it affects people, and that there is no cure'.
Kylie introduced the Mayor of Port Stephens, Leah Anderson, who welcomed the 100 or so residents to the morning tea.
Kylie then called on another resident, Russell Keane, to speak. Russell tragically lost his son to MND only weeks ago. Russell presented a generous donation from the Latitude One Cue Club.
Suzanne’s hope is that the money they have raised from the morning tea 'makes a little bit of some difference for the families facing MND'.
Thank you Suzanne, Kylie, and all involved in attending and supporting the fundraiser!
