Due to current concerns surrounding the coronavirus (COVID 19) we have decided to POSTPONE the Canberra Walk to d’Feet MND on Sunday 22nd March 2020 and the Orange Walk to d’Feet MND on Sunday 5th April 2020. We’re looking to reschedule the events for later in the year.

Although there’s no cause for alarm, we’ve made this decision based on updates from NSW Health, ACT Health and other experts so we can keep our community safe. Our members are particularly susceptible to this and other viruses and your wellbeing is always our priority.

We haven’t made this decision lightly. Our Walk to d’Feet MND events are our biggest source of community funding and ensure that we’re able to keep supporting people living with all types of MND, their families and carers. The money we raise from these walks allows us to advocate on behalf of people with MND, loan out specialised equipment including electric wheelchairs, communication devices, electric beds and walking frames, provide education, workshops and seminars as well as raise funds for research.

We couldn’t do what we do without you. It might sound cliché, but it’s the truth.

Since the last Walk to d’Feet MND in Canberra last June, we’ve provided over 33 items of specialised equipment to people aged 65+ living with MND in the ACT. Because of their age, these people do not have access to the NDIS, so we make sure we provide this necessary equipment, free of charge. To put it in perspective this equipment would have cost individuals a whopping $48,440 to buy (not including courier or servicing charges). It’s why we run our Walk to d’Feet MND fundraisers so we can keep providing these crucial services to those who need it most.

In Orange, we ran two big events last year which provided crucial information to the community. Living Well with MND, an event for people with MND and their families, was organised and hosted by us, free of charge for everyone who attended. The other event, MND Aware, provided information about MND to health professionals and community carers, informing them about the best ways to respond effectively to people with MND. Funding more events like this in Orange as well as supporting people affected by MND in the community is what this first ever Walk to d’Feet fundraiser in Orange is all about.

We’re so thankful to everyone who has signed up to get involved in our walks this year. For everyone who has registered for Canberra and Orange, just think, now you’ll have even more time to fundraise so we can reach our target of raising $320,000 across all walks in 2020!

If you have specific concerns or questions regarding the coronavirus, please contact your GP or the Coronavirus Health Information Line.  For further information on the precautions we’re taking you can call our Infoline on 1800 777 175.

If you would prefer a refund of your registration rather than participating in our Canberra and Orange Walks later this year please get in touch by calling (02) 8877 0999 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Our first walk of the year will now be our National Walk to d’Feet MND fundraiser, the first ever of its kind. You can find out more details about all our Walk to d’Feet MND fundraisers here.

We’d once again like to thank you for your understanding and your continued support. It means the world to us. We’ll be announcing two new dates for both the Canberra and Orange Walk to d’Feet fundraisers for the end of the year soon so stay tuned.
