Thank you and congratulations to the amazing staff at Quakers Hill Veterinary Hospital who have raised over $7,500 for MND NSW. A staff member has been diagnosed with MND and they are raising money to hopefully one day find a cure. Fundraising events have included a High Tea for MND, a staff Ice Bucket Challenge and a cutest pet competition.

Thank you to Sam Brantsma and the staff at Thredbo Alpine Hotel who raised $3,140 for MND NSW in support of a former staff member with MND. The fundraising night included games, prizes and a silent auction while watching the first State of Origin on the big screen. Sam said of the night, “The night was a big success, full of laughs and memorable moments, incredible generosity and overall recognition of a great cause from all.”

The Lighthouse Project is a Phase 2 study of antiretroviral therapy aiming to determine the safety and tolerability of Triumeq and provide preliminary data on whether the drug can slow down progression of MND. The investigators hope to start recruiting for this study in September 2016. The study will be conducted at three sites in Sydney (The University of Sydney, Macquarie University and Westmead Hospital) and one in Melbourne (Calvary Healthcare Bethlehem Hospital) with ten participants from each site who meet certain inclusion criteria.

The Gundaroo Music Festival, as a fundraiser for MND NSW, is now in its fourth year. It is a family-friendly big day out with non-stop entertainment from 10am to 10pm on
8 October, 2016.

The festival includes live bands, spectacular fireworks display at 8:30pm, kid’s zone, market stalls, wine tasting, international food stalls, extreme 4WD display and more. 2016 will see performances from Gundaroo All Stars, Lawson Shire, Dan Usher Band, Royal Australian Navy Band, The Idea of North, Chasing Giants, James Southwell Band, Russel Morris and Mitch Anderson. See for more info and to book your tickets.

The Narrabri community were spoilt for choice with a cake stall and a High Tea for MND held during June. Both events were a great success raising $3,323, and enjoyed by those who attended. Thank you to Belinda Druce who organised the events.
